KEWANEE - Alice M. “Bugs” Switzer, 89, a resident of Toulon Health Care Center, formerly of Kewanee, died at 10:20 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2016 at the center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 11 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Randall Swanson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
She was born August 21, 1927 in Annawan, the daughter of Roy and Ann (DeSplinter) Ouart. She married Richard A. “Dick” Switzer on April 21, 1951 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2005. Survivors include a son, Bob (Becky) Switzer of Kewanee, a daughter, Sandy (Don) Wirth of Kewanee, three grandchildren, Nick, Valerie and Ryan and two great grandchildren, Max and Lilly. She was also preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Tara and a brother, Delmar Ouart.
Bugs graduated from Annawan High School in 1944 as Salutatorian. She worked as a teller and loan officer at Union Federal Savings & Loan for almost 30 years, retiring in 1992. She was an artist, enjoying painting with pastels, oils and watercolors and other various medians.
