Alison H. Strand

GALVA – Alison H. Strand, 68, of Galva, died at 9:18 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2017 at his home.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

He was born August 21, 1948  in Kewanee, the son of Harland C. and Elsie Mae (Oberg) Strand. He married Georgia G. Gray on April 8, 1967 in Galva. She survives, as does a son, Rob (Doris “Doe”) Strand of Kewanee, a daughter, Brenda Strand of Galva, a brother, Armand Strand of Galva, a sister, Annette Boehm of East Peoria, IL and his grandchild, Allyson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Anthony.

Alison attended Galva schools. He worked as a farmer in the area and had also operated a guitar shop in Galva. He was a self-taught musician and enjoyed playing guitar and riding motorcycles. In his early years, he was active in the bands; Everyday People and Shades of Blue and had played at area colleges and venues and had also won several Battle of the Bands contests.
