Audrey A. Anderson

GALVA – Audrey A. Anderson, 91, of Galva, died at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva. Rev. Linda Winkelman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Messiah Lutheran Church or to Knox County Nursing Home. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 27, 1925 in Kewanee, the daughter of Harold and Emma (Swanson) Burns. She married Reuben P. Anderson on March 27, 1945 in Galva and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2007. Survivors include her daughter, Katherine “Kathy” (Robert) Mattson of Knoxville, a daughter-in-law, Mariane Anderson of Abingdon, four grandchildren, Erin (Edward) Matern, Amy (Buck) Farley, Kristina (Aaron) Brodrick and Meredith (Tyler) Rundle and twelve great grandchildren, Beverly, Terin, Tyler, Brooklyn, Gavin, Caoilainn, Padraig, Kaleb, Kamden, Kolton, Hayven and Ainsley. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerald “Jerry” Anderson and a sister, Eunice Medley.

Audrey graduated from Galva High School in 1942 and attended St. Ambrose University and graduated from Augustana College. She was a schoolteacher, having taught at Burns, Lincoln, F.U. White and Galva Middle Schools. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Twosomes Club at the church. She was also a member of the Xi Kappa Gamma Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Audrey enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and playing cards and dice.
