KEWANEE- Charles Kenneth Baker, 64, of Kewanee, passed away at 3:11 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the emergency room at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Elder Fred Watson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 9 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
He was born November 29, 1952 in Monroe City, MO, the son of the late Elder Joseph and Mary Francis (Washington) Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight of his siblings; Mary Darlene, Philip, Timothy, a set of twins, Tyrone Lamont, George and Diane. Survivors include four children, Tyrone (Paula) Baker, LaSandra (Al) Robinson and Elandra Baker and Mary Baker, all of Kewanee; eight grandchildren, Makayla, Donovan, Terrell, Chelsea, Tia, Charles, Tevin and Dominic; five siblings, Carl (Debbie) Baker of Venice, FL, Richard (Tammy) Baker of Gauletville, TN, Danny Baker and Dolly Baker, both of Indianapolis, IN and David Baker of Galesburg, IL, several nieces and nephews and his significant other, Edwina Warren.
Charlie attended Kewanee schools and had worked for many years at Harper-Wyman, Mail-o-graph and at Goods Furniture. He later owned and operated Charlie’s Car Wash, detailing vehicles in the Kewanee area and for several car dealerships.
