KEWANEE – Dennis L. Schoen, 69, of Kewanee, died at 3:10 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at his home, with his wife at his side and knowing the love of family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewanee.  Rev. Burnell Eckardt will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 31 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.  Burial will be in Pleasant View South Cemetery.

He was born October 15, 1947 in Freeport,IL the son of Robert Henry and Nina Marie (Boomgarden) Schoen. He married Janice “Jan” Medernach on September 24, 1977 in Lanark, IL. She survives of Kewanee, as do four children, Jodi (Mike) Golembiewski of Sycamore, IL, Robert (Rebecca) Schoen of Round Lake Beach, IL, Trista (Chris) Dooley of Kewanee and Scott Schoen of Princeton, a sister-in-law, Martha Schoen of Towanda, IL and eight grandchildren, Gwyn, Abby, Hailey, Katy, Jacob, Elizabeth, Mason, and Breann. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Schoen.

Dennis graduated from Lanark High School, attended Highland Community College and had served his country in the Army Reserves. He moved to Kewanee in 1978 to work at Kewanee Boiler.  He retired from a career as a Territory Sales Manager specializing in industrial safety valves. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with his boat, watching TV and following the racing teams, woodworking, model airplanes, making others laugh with his own sense of humor, caring for his home, and especially spending time with his family.
