Donald P. "Don" Anderson

GALVA - Donald P. “Don” Anderson, 64, of Galva, died at 8:35 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, from complications of a stroke that had occurred earlier in the month.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Karen Martin will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Dr. Andrew Tsung at the Illinois Neurological Institute for cancer research.

He was born November 6, 1952 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Virtus and Helen (Palmer) Anderson. He married Christina L. “Chris” Rupp on March 3, 1993 in Denver, CO. She survives, as well as two daughters, Rebecca “Becca” (Crane) Johnson and Miriah Anderson, both of Galva, three grandchildren, Casey, Brayden and Piper Jo Johnson, his mother, Helen Anderson of Galva,  two nephews, Carl and Dale Anderson and his sister-in-law, Karen Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Dennis.

Donald graduated from Galva High School in 1970. He currently was working at Caterpillar and had worked as an  assembler but was currently a tool manager. He also operated The Lucky Dog Lodge with his family in rural Galva. He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed golfing, attending auctions and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. He was a die-hard Denver Bronco’s fan. He loved his family and grandchildren and had great affection for his dogs and at times, for the cat.
