KEWANEE - Donna K. Queen, 71, of Kewanee, died at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
Sharing of Memories will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Bruce McGee will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the of the service at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be directed to the Donna Queen Memorial Fund.
She was born January 22, 1945 in Kewanee, the daughter Howard and Jean (Pyle) Kirman. She married Charles J. Queen on November 15, 1983 in Southern Illinois. He survives of Kewanee, as does a son, Dion (Brenda) Queen of Chicago, two sisters, Pat Bennett of Kewanee and Sheri Kirman of Galesburg, a sister-in-law, Mary, a brother-in-law, Bill “Elory” Queen, three grandchildren, Demi, Dante and Dessa and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Denny and Tommy, a sister and brother-in-law, Deb and Shane Spires and a niece, Elizabeth.
Donna attended Kewanee Schools and had resided in Kewanee most of her life. She had worked at Leisure Hills Nursing Home and later at Oakwood Nursing Home and had operated Donna’s Daycare Center out of her home. She loved NASCAR, enjoyed watching softball, football and baseball, working in the yard, traveling to Chicago and spending time with her two best friends, Wilda Armstrong and Nota Hall. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
