KEWANEE- Doris Kirman Polansky, 92, of Kewanee, passed away at 9:45p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22 at Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m., Friday at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church and to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Doris was born October 24, 1923 in Kewanee. She was one of four daughters of Phillip and Alma Thurwanger. After World War II, she married Donald Kirman in 1946 and they had farmed west of Kewanee until 1974 when they moved to Wethersfield. Donald passed away on October 9, 1976. She remarried to John Polansky of Kewanee in August of 1979. They later divorced but remained friends throughout the years. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Donald Kirman, two sisters, Lois Archer and Jean DeMay and her daughter, Ginger. Surviving is her daughter, Linda Ericson (Walt Bryant) of Sun City, AZ and son, Donald Jr. and Andrea Kirman of Mesa, AZ, and a sister, Ella Mae Pyle of Phoenix, AZ.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Burns Grange, and several card clubs. Doris loved her family and the friendship of her many card playing companions. She also loved to dance at the Flemish American Club and enjoyed listening to live music.
