KEWANEE - Frances Althea Schultz, 92, of Davenport, IA, formerly of Kewanee, died at 9:48 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Dan DePuydt will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a fund for school supplies through the Kewanee Schools Foundation, the Salvation Army or to Toys for Tots. Per her request the family would like all who attend services to dress casual.

She was born December 19, 1923 in Victoria, IL, the daughter of James and Nellie Mae Harland. She married Alvin Schultz Jr. on December 21, 1943 in Peoria and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1998. Survivors include her daughter, Jeri (Walter) Johnson of Davenport, IA, two grandchildren, Clayton Johnson and Carrie (Brian) DePuydt and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Frances graduated from Galva High School in 1941. She was a homemaker and a farmers wife and had volunteered at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Church UCC where she taught Sunday School for 50+ years. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Burns Grange and the Women’s Committee of the Farm Bureau. She loved grocery stores, shopping, butterflies, cooking and baking pies. She had an extensive collection of cookbooks, utensils and bakeware.
