KEWANEE- Freddie E. Martin Sr., 70, of Kewanee, died at 11:02 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 10 at the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Dale Dykstra will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Cremation will be accorded following the services with private inurnment at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church.
He was born March 13, 1945 in Kewanee, the son of Glenn and Berniece (Richter) Martin. He married Diane M. Reamer on July 1, 1968 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by four sons, Freddie (Laurie) Martin Jr., Matthew (Cindy) Martin, Thommas (Amber) Martin and William Martin, all of Kewanee, five daughters, Carolyn (Matt) Meurs of Fulton, IL, Lynette (Wayne) Hulslander of Kewanee, Kayleen Martin (Josh Hoyle) of Washington, IA, Rebecca Martin (Phil Cone’) of Kewanee and Karyssa (Matthew) Heberer of Fargo, ND, twenty grandchildren and one sister, Barb (Don) Manthe of Aledo.
Freddie graduated from Kewanee High School in 1964. He was an independent truck driver and had owned and operated Martin Oil Company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors and riding them in parades and displaying them at the Fourth of July Festival at Francis Park.
