Harold Wayne Carlson

WILLIAMSFIELD - On Monday, September 12, 2016, a wonderful and loving brother, uncle and friend, Harold Wayne Carlson of Williamsfield, IL passed away at the age of 97.

He was born on May 25, 1919 in Victoria Township, Knox County, the son of Carl and Ethel Elliott Carlson. He married Marie G. Carlson on November 26, 1953 in Henderson Grove. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a brother, Robert Dean Carlson (Evelyn) of Mesa, AZ, niece, Sandy (Mike) Reitmeyer of Scottsdale, AZ, nephew, Larry (Rene) Carlson of Chandler, AZ and niece, Debi (Doug) LaLonde of Gilbert, AZ; great nephews/nieces are Sean, Dustin and Makenzie Reitmeyer,  Milee (Alvaro) Ramazinni, Jillian (Cole) Romey, Cassidy (Jordan) Pingree and Cheyanna LaLonde; he also leaves behind 3 great-great nieces, 3 great-great nephews and two very special friends, Bonnie Strom and Mary Bell.

Wayne graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1937 where he was a charter member of the FFA. He was a lifelong farmer, having operated the same centennial farm for over 50 years, until retiring in 1999.  He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church and the Knox County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed being out of doors, farming, gardening and visiting with family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 16th at the Rux Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Williamsfield. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be on Saturday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate. Burial will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery. A luncheon at the church will follow the burial. Memorials can be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church or the Williamsfield FFA.
