“And I will forever, ‘cause you’ll forever be
my one true broken heart, pieces inside of me
and you forever, my baby.” – Dave Matthews

Harper Elle Spalding, born May 4th, 2017, passed away comfortably in her parents’ arms on July 7th, 2017. Though she left the world too early, she will forever be in the hearts of her adoring parents Jantz and Karigan Spalding (Galesburg, IL), her proud big brother Deklan Michael Spalding and her fur-sister Tinsley Spalding.

She is survived by her loving grandparents Greg and Renee Spalding (Streator, IL), Robin and Bruce McCance (Galesburg, IL), Robert and Pam Ploof (San Antonio, TX) – her aunts Isabella Williams (Galesburg, IL), Jaryn Spalding (Jacksonville, NC), Michelle Spalding-Gates (Chase City, VA), Chelsea McCance (Elmwood, IL), Danielle Pellum (Chantilly, VA) – her uncles Nick McCance (Elmwood, IL), Nick Pellum (Cabot, AR) and Matthew Pellum (Caseyville, IL) – and also her great aunts and uncles for their amazing care and support.

Her time was short, but her impact was life-lasting. Through her fight, her story and her smile – she brought hope, faith and love to the countless friends and family who provided support.

A tremendous thank you to the entire staff at OSF Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria, IL – especially her beloved nurses Megan and Erin.  A special thank you to Dr. Javed and his colleagues for the incredible care the staff gave Harper.

She will be cared for by the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, IL.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 26 at the Lake Storey Pavilion in Galesburg.  Memorials may be directed to the Harper Elle Spalding Memorial Fund in c/o Rux Funeral Home, 507 S. Chestnut St., Kewanee, IL 61443.
