Harriette M. Duffy

GALESBURG – Harriette M. Duffy, 98, of Galesburg, formerly of the Victoria and Williamsfield area, passed away at 5:10 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center in Galesburg.

Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 at the Victoria United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service in the church hall. Inurnment will be in Victoria Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Victoria United Methodist Church or to O.A.K.S. in Galesburg.  Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 13, 1918 in Victoria, the daughter of Frank and Mabrun (Rice) Peterson. She married William E. Duffy on December 3, 1939 in Burlington, IA and he preceded her in death in July of 1984. Survivors include her two sons, William E. (Donna) Duffy Jr. of Viola, IL and Cecil (Mary) Duffy of Galva, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, a special nephew, Tim Connors and “her girls”, Martha, Connie, and Darlene. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and five brothers.

Harriette graduated from Victoria High School in 1937. She operated the Victoria Hotel Café for many years. She was a member of the Victoria United Methodist Church and O.A.K.S. in Galesburg. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at www.ruxfuneralhome.com.
