WILLIAMSFIELD - Helen E. Mackie, 84, of rural Williamsfield, died at 5:10 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 2 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Rev. Jennifer Seder. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements.

She was born May 16, 1931 in Galesburg, the daughter of J. Glenn and Ina (Asbury) Cheesman. She married Donald G. Mackie on January 14, 1951 in Galesburg. He survives, as do two sons, Michael (Tasi) Mackie of Williamsfield, Daniel (Sherry) Mackie of Mapleton, IL, a son-in-law, Norman Johnson of Dahinda, eight grandchildren, Mack (Tiffany) Johnson, James Mackie, Beau (Amber) Johnson, Drew Mackie, Danielle Mackie, Whitney (Lucas) Leckrone, Lacy (Cody) Niebuhr and Nate Mackie, six great grandchildren with one on the way, two sisters, Virginia Whittaker of Hudson, IL and Anna Mae (Junior) Dudley of Williamsfield,two brothers, Jack and Edward Cheesman, both of Galesburg, and her special caregivers Judy Sparks and Dana Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Janice Johnson.

Helen graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1949. In her early years, she had worked at Galesburg Research Hospital, Gale Products and Burlington Northern Truck Line and as a realtor. She was also a homemaker and had helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, especially raising tomatoes and tending to her strawberry patch. She was an avid oil painter and enjoyed following her children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events and the family gatherings at the lake. Her favorite holiday was Christmas as she was able to decorate and share the love of the season.
