James Warren Creech

KEWANEE - James Warren Creech, 82, of Kewanee, died at 10:28 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 31 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor David Hamilton will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

He was born December 17, 1933 in Lawrence County, IL, the son of James and Agnes (Moan) Creech. He married Lora Jane Buchanan on May 3, 1959 in Lawrence County, IL and she preceded him in death on October 14, 1990. He later married Ada Scott on August 27, 1992 in Kewanee. She survives of Kewanee, as do four sons, Jeff (Krisa) Creech of St. Louis, MO, Brian (Stephanie) Creech of Petersburg, IL and Tim (Nicole) Creech and Eric Creech, both of Pekin, IL, a daughter, Becky (Jeff) Williams of Fort Worth, TX, six step-children, Martin Chayer, George Chayer, Connie (Hiram) Jenkins, Jeff Chayer, Wayne (Nickie) Chayer and John Chayer, all of Kewanee, his brother, Tom (Nettie) Creech of Wisconsin, twenty-nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Shirley and Elizabeth and a step-son, Jody Chayer.

Warren graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1951. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cold War era and also in the Army National Guard obtaining the rank of Sgt. First Class . He worked as plant manager for MAPCO for 35 years until his retirement. In his later years he worked for Farm King. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kewanee. His enjoyments included fishing, bowling and watching his local wildlife and he especially enjoyed following his children in their various sporting events.
