Joan (Stuart) Renard

GALVA - Joan (Stuart) Renard, 86, of Galva, formerly of Toulon, died at 1:51 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Proctor in Peoria.

Per her wishes cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16th at the Elmira United Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Dale Dykstra will officiate. After the service, a gathering of family and friends will take place in the church hall for a luncheon and time of visiting and sharing of memories.  Memorials may be directed to the Elmira United Presbyterian Church Lift Fund or to the Stark County Ambulance Service. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

Joan was born February 24, 1931 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of Angus M. and Elizabeth (Clarke) Stuart. She married Harold Renard on August 10, 1952 at the Elmira United Presbyterian Church and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jeffrey Renard. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Denny) Tarleton of Galva, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Renard of Pekin, IL, five grandchildren, Michelle, Natalie, Chase, Shane and Shandra and seven great grandchildren, Samantha, Nick, Logan, Autumn, Raymond, Chloe and Aiden.

She graduated from Toulon High School in 1948. She then attended Monmouth College for 2 years and then graduated from Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO. Joan was a member of the Elmira United Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Trustee, Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Toulon American Legion Auxiliary, past matron and grand lecturer emeritus of Toulon Chapter. #10, O.E.S. and the Toulon Past Matrons Club. She enjoyed crafts and handiwork, reading, playing bridge, trips to Branson, MO and spending time with her family and friends.
