Joanne Kaye Petty

KEWANEE - Joanne Kaye Petty, 53, of Kewanee, died at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 5 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Stephen Rose will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

She was born June 20, 1963 in Kewanee, the daughter of Rosemary (Tucker) Derick. Survivors include her daughter, Haley Petty of Kewanee, her six siblings, Debbie (Gary) Boswell of Kewanee and their son, Jacob; Karen (Mike) Rohrig of Galva and their children, Krystal (Drew) Dirks and Jenny (Lenny) Fryer and their daughter, Aribella; Steve (Julie) Derick of Atkinson and their children, Tom, Hannah and Kayleigh; Connie Kersey and Linda (Bob) Bridgewater, both of Kewanee and Denise (Rick) Knollenberg of Pekin and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.

Joanne graduated from Toulon High School. She worked at Kewanee Hospital for 32 years as a transcriptionist and was very proud of her job. She was an artistic individual who loved doing crafts, shopping and cooking and baking, especially Christmas cookies. She enjoyed following her nephew, Jacob’s sporting events. Her daughter, Haley was her world and Joanne was her biggest fan and she gave her everything even when she had nothing. “You are the vine and I am the branch.”
