John W. Benton

GALVA - John W. Benton, 53, of Galva, formerly of Hanna City, died at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the emergency room at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday August 12 at the Hanna City United Methodist Church, 12208 W. Farmington Rd., Hanna City, IL. Memorials may be directed to the family. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born May 19, 1964 in Grinnell, IA, the son of Harold J. and Ernestine (Baldwin) Benton. He married Deborah A. Falls on February 18, 1994 in Paducah, KY. She survives as do two sons, Alex and Zach and two daughters, Tala and Summer, all at home. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John graduated from Streator High School in 1982 and then graduated from Sawyer College with an associate’s degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1988. He had worked as a cook at the Germantown Bar & Grill. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
