Leona E. Cecil

KEWANEE - Leona E. Cecil, 90, of Kewanee, died at 10:17 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 6 in the chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, December 5 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the National Stroke Association (www.stroke.org).

She was born July 31, 1926 in East St. Louis, IL the daughter of Charles and Helen (Wilkins) Ritter. She married Eugene F. Cecil on August 26, 1947 in East St. Louis and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1975. Survivors include a son, Craig (Linda) Cecil of Madison, AL, two daughters, Cheryl (Scott) Selburg of Spring Bay, IL and Sharon (Charles) Biegel of Folsom, CA, a sister, June Shipton of Hamel, IL, nine grandchildren, Brooke, Matthew, Jordan, Joseph, Nicholas, Sarah, Morgan, Cameron and Logan and seventeen great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a bother and a sister.

Leona was a homemaker and had attended Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and birdwatching and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
