KEWANEE - Lois Irene Sellon Greenhagen, 94, of Kewanee, died at 6:29 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 17 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Dan Wright will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Henry County Genealogy Society.

She was born June 10, 1921 in Kewanee, the daughter of Ira Burton and Mary Pauline (Homer) Sellon. She married Marvin Greenhagen on June 26, 1948 in Galva and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Rita Greenhagen and Lana (Kenneth) Leasure, both of Kewanee and Josie (Timothy) Ouart of Morton, IL, a step-daughter, Diane (Leo Jr.) Dziengel of Kewanee, a sister, Donna Nixon of Galesburg, six grandchildren, Brian Ince, Brett Leasure, Brice (Lindsay) Leasure, Elizabeth (Dr. Timothy) Pratt, Jacquie (Shawn) Kendall and Katie (Ben) Abbott, six great grandchildren, Corrie Ann Ince, Leighton Leasure, Avery and Isaac Pratt and Hadley and Sadie Abbott, five step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a step-son, Gary Greenhagen, two sisters, Phyllis Anderson and Jacqueline Anderson and a brother, Merlin Sellon.  

Lois was raised in Galva and graduated from Galva High School in 1939 and later from St. Francis School of Nursing in Kewanee. She served her country in the Army as a nurse during WWII, stationed in England and obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant. She worked as a nurse for St. Francis Hospital and Kewanee Public Hospital. She was a member of Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. She was also a member of the Galva American Legion, the VFW and the American Red Cross. She enjoyed being able to go on an Honor Flight and attending the nurses breakfasts. She also enjoyed genealogy, knitting, crocheting, sewing, traveling and especially spending time with her family.
