Louise Kalvin

KEWANEE - Louise Kalvin, 92, of Kewanee, died at 8:36 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kewanee. Fr. James Clement will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Episcopal Church.

She was born December 24, 1923 in Stringtown, KY, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Dame) Scott. She married Peter Kalvin on April 2, 1942 in Missouri and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1960. Survivors include two sons, John (Nancy) Kalvin of Urbana, IL and Rick Kalvin of Chicago, two daughters, Linda Kalvin of Kewanee and Pat (Brian) Bjorklund of Minneapolis, MN, five grandchildren, Rebecca Judge, John Kalvin, Kris Bjorklund, Katie Bjorklund and Stephanie Evans and six great grandchildren, Sydney, Caden, Jak, Joryn, Elliott and Samuel. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Elmer Scott and a sister, Mildred Bloomberg.

Louise graduated from Kewanee High School in 1941. She had worked as a stock clerk at JC Penney, a bookkeeper at St Francis and Kewanee Hospitals and as an office manager for Drs. Svendson and Cernovich. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Louise was an avid reader and enjoyed baking and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
