Lucille G. Kemerling

KEWANEE - Lucille G. Kemerling, 86, of Kewanee, was pronounced dead at 1:34 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred 1 mile south of Kewanee on Rt. 78.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m, Thursday, March 23 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kewanee. Rev. Burnell Eckardt will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

She was born January 4, 1931 in rural Geneseo, the daughter of Raymond and Amelia (Neumann) Kane. She married Monroe R. Kemerling Jr. on June 27, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Edford Twp. He survives, as well as their children, Karla (John) Perkowski of Parkville, MO, Diana (Jeff) Shreck of Kewanee, Tammie (William) Johnson of Round Lake, IL, Monroe (Frances) Kemerling III of Cary, IL and Kim (Eric) Michaelsen of Lemont, IL, eight grandchildren, Adam (Karen) Shreck, Melinda (Michael) Fisa, Paul Neumann, Sara (Luke) Weeks, Mary Michaelsen, Rebekah Michaelsen, Alexia (Josh) Kuta and Susanna Kemerling, five great grandchildren and a sister, Joyce DeFauw of Geneseo. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother and an infant daughter, Nancy.

Lucille graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949. In earlier years, she had worked at Carp’s Shoe Store and as a rural mail carrier and as a carrier for the Kewanee Star Courier. She sold dolls at flea markets and doll shows in the area. Lucille had a faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was active in many church activities, including Women for Christ. She enjoyed her collection of dolls and was especially proud of her children and grandchildren and their families.
