GALVA – Lyle G. Leader, 69, of Galva, died at 2:06 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. His brother, Rev. Richard Leader will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service cremation will be accorded.
He was born March 12, 1948 in Ladysmith, WI, the son of Charles and Icle (Cole) Leader. He married Victoria “Vicki” Dixon on July 21, 1973 on a Navy base in North Chicago, IL. She survives of Galva, as do two daughters, Dana Leek and Misty Isaacs, both of Kewanee, four brothers, Steve, Roy, Joe and Richard, three sisters, Betty, Joyce and Eva, four grandchildren, Patricia, Jordan, James and Jadelyne and three great grandchildren, Tyler, Colton and Aidan. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James and a sister, Peggy.
Lyle graduated from Grant High School in Fox Lake, IL. He served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Era and continued his career as a submariner having served in Guam, Hawaii, California, South Carolina and Illinois, retiring in 1989. He was of the Baptist faith and a “man of all trades,” enjoying fishing, golfing woodworking and especially helping his children with their homes.
