Marilyn J. Petty

KEWANEE - Marilyn J. Petty, 87, of Kewanee, died at 2:20 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or to the Parkinson's Foundation.

She was born April 15, 1929 in Keithsburg, IL, the daughter of John and Bernadine (Hall) Reeder. She married George L. Petty on January 27, 1951 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1995. Survivors include four children, Michael Petty of Carbon Cliff, IL, Alice (Carl) Hansen and Edward (Pam) Petty, both of Kewanee and Dale Petty of Chicago, her sister, Agnes Barnhouse of Coal Valley, IL, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bill.

Marilyn graduated from Keithsburg High School in 1948. She had been employed as head of the Laundry Dept. at Royal Oaks Care Center. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the river boat, taking trips with the Henry County Senior Citizens Center, fishing and cookouts, but most of all she enjoyed being around her grandchildren.
