KEWANEE – Marjorie S. Homer, 75, a resident of Heritage Health in Walnut, IL, formerly of Kewanee, died at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the manor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. The Very Rev. Jerry Rafalko will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Health in Walnut or to Vitas Hospice in LaSalle.

She was born February 13, 1942 in New Bedford, IL, the daughter of George and Emma (Hardy) Howes. She married George R. Homer on October 20, 1963 and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2013. Survivors include a son, Steve Homer of Knoxville, TN, a daughter, Jeri (Tim) Hallinan of Macomb, IL, her two sisters, Betty Schuler of Walnut and Joyce Long of Oregon, IL and three grandchildren, Christopher, Sean and Quinlan Hallinan. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a son, Bradley.

Marjorie had worked as a waitress for many years at Midland Country Club in Kewanee until her retirement. She had been a member of the former Assembly of God Church in Kewanee and the Rebekah Lodge. She was an Elvis fan who enjoyed bowling and had bowled in league, flower gardening, doing word search puzzles and going on group bus trips with her husband. Most of all she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
