Mattie G. Taylor

KEWANEE - Mattie G. Taylor, 85, of Kewanee, died at 8:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at Toulon Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 6 at the Second Baptist Church in Kewanee. Rev. Lawrence Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Second Baptist Church. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 24, 1930 in Ripley, TN, the daughter of Marcus and Pearlie (Estes) Young. She married Henry A. Taylor on September 21, 1946 in Brownsville, TN and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2012. Survivors include four sons, Wayne (Barbara) Taylor of Aurora, IL and Marcus Taylor, Rodney Taylor and Matt (Kendra) Taylor, all of Kewanee, a brother, Clyde (Diane) Young of Memphis, TN and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters, three sons, David, Raphiel and Larry Taylor, a daughter, Augustine Taylor and several children in infancy.

Mattie was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed her church, cooking, flower gardening and reading her Bible. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
