Maurice E. "Buster" Bantz

ELMORE - Maurice E. "Buster" Bantz, 90, a resident of Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, formerly of Elmore, died at 2:30 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Jennifer Seder will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11 at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Elmore. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield Athletics Booster Club.

He was born September 12, 1926 in Williamsfield, the son of Edward and Pearl (Barber) Bantz. He married Shirley J. Lumberry on February 1, 1947 in Peoria. She survives of Galesburg, as do five sons, Don (Barbara) Bantz of Laura, John (Jennifer) Bantz of Williamsfield, Harley (Cindy) Bantz of Florida, Dennis (Gina) Bantz of Williamsfield and Larry Bantz of West Jersey, two half-sisters, Janet Jones of Chicago, IL and Joanne Bantz of Anchorage, AK, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandchild.

Maurice worked as a school bus driver for 33 years in Yates City and Williamsfield. He also had worked in a strip coal mine near Laura and had driven a truck for a gas company. He was a former member of the Elmore Methodist Church. Maurice was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing and he thoroughly enjoyed his family and attending the events of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
