Max D. York

KEWANEE -  Max D. York, 68, of Kewanee, died at 5:51 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the emergency room at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, Kewanee.

Cremation will be accorded and a visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m.,  Wednesday, September 20 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 21 at the funeral home. Officiating will be his brother Gary and his son, Justin. Private burial of ashes will be held at a later date near his cabin in Minnesota. Memorials may be directed to the State Road Community Church, Orion Christian Church or to the Lincoln Christian University.

He was born March 21, 1949 in Quincy, IL, the son of Hugh and Evelyn (Appel) York. He married RaChel Keeler on August 8, 1970 in Nevis, WI. She survives as well as his children, Bronwen (Chuck) Griffith of Park Rapids, MN, Justin (Jenny) York of Sheffield, IL and Brandon (Mary) York of Kewanee, IL, six grandchildren, Madison Griffith, Brooke York, Camryn York, Joshua York, Roland Bettis and Brandi York, a great grandchild, Jayden B Rock, his mother, Evelyn York of Normal, IL, a brother Gary (Janet) York of Normal, IL and a sister, Muriel Long of Roslindale, MA. He was preceded in death by his father.

Max graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1967. He received his BS at Lincoln Christian College and then his Masters Degree from Pacific Christian College in Fullerton, CA. He was the Pastor at State Road Community Church, rural Kewanee and at Orion Christian Church in Orion. He enjoyed fishing, Westerns and spending time at his cabin in Minnesota.
