Mildred Margaretta Worrell

KEWANEE- Mildred Margaretta Worrell, 98, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2015 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Mildred was born October 11, 1916 in Elyria Valley County, NE, the daughter of Lloyd F. and Florence (Gray) Wheeler.  She moved to Illinois in 1934.  Mildred married Floyd William Worrell on December 8, 1936.  They farmed in LaFayette, IL until Floyd’s passing in 1972.  She moved to Kewanee in 1989.  She had worked for Jacobson’s Bakery for 18 years and finally retired at the age of 84.  Mildred stayed active and loved to garden and spend time with her family and friends.  She was a member of the LaFayette Methodist Church and was a wonderful example on how to live life full of love and grace.

She is survived by daughters, Darlene Ryan of Pueblo, CO and Karen (Charlie) Hollandsworth of Annawan, IL, a son, Kenneth (Kelly) Worrell of Wataga, IL, sister, Del (Dwain) Jacobson, and brother-in-law, Glen Beall.  She was blessed with twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Floyd, a son, William, a daughter, Donna Haynes, infant grandson, Robert Perry, her parents, sisters, Lois Headly and Patsy Beall and a brother, Eldon Wheeler.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, August 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.  Pastor Tim Delaney will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery in Princeville, IL. Memorials may be directed to the LaFayette Methodist Church.
