GALVA - Robert I. “Bob” Johnson, 71, of Galva, died at 9:10 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kewanee. Elder William Currier will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, October 17 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Burial will be in the Woodhull Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Boy Scout Troop 143 Galva or Troop 345 Kewanee.
He was born November 3, 1944 in Galesburg, the son of Irving and Linnea (Johnson) Johnson. He married Diane M. Chambers on June 1, 2001 in Kewanee. She survives as do four step-children, Thomas Rigby Jr. and Connie (Eric) Arnell, both of Montpelier, ID, Joseph Rigby of Pocatello, ID and Justin (Jedidiah) Rigby of Boise, ID and three grandchildren, Lorenzo Tull and Elizabeth and Isabelle Arnell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, William Arnell.
Bob had graduated from ROVA High School and then from Midstate College in Peoria. He had worked as a sales rep for various Ag Supply companies. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kewanee. He was always about the weather and was a 40 year member of the ESDA and had served as the ESDA Director for the City of Galva since 1991. He was a ham radio operator and he enjoyed playing cards, country music and his dogs, Buddy and Lucy.
