Robert E. "Bob" Forbes

GALVA - Robert E. “Bob” Forbes, 72, of Galva, formerly of Chillicothe, died at 8:58 a.m., Friday, November 25, 2016 at Aperion Care Center in Galesburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Ivan Brake will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Cremation will be accorded following the services and private inurnment will be held at a later date at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

He was born September 30, 1944 in Peoria, IL, the son of Emery and Mary (Newell) Forbes. He married Linda R. Tennis on March 12, 1994 in Williamsfield. She survives as do his children, Shawn and Heather Forbes, Tracy (Ronnie) Lambert of Galesburg, Mary Lawver (and her fiancé Paul Denny) of Indianapolis, IN and William L. “Bill” (Katie) Bricker Jr. and Amanda (Donovan) Jaco, both of Galva, his grandchildren, Christian and Ian Lambert, Madilynne, Matthew and MiKayla Lawver, Ashley and John Shilling, Caleste Bricker, Sindey Jaco, Konner Kubiak and Tristan Jaco,  great grandchildren, Jasper Lambert, Manny Spalding and Julianna Schnuck and a sister, Judy (Dewey) Griffith of Tennessee.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, William Bricker III.

Bob had attended school in Chillicothe. He had worked for 20 years as a landscaper for the Illinois Department of Transportation until he retired. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Galva. He enjoyed making birdhouses, collecting toy tractors, especially John Deere types and viewing farmsteads across the countryside. His favorite holiday was Christmas and he loved getting into the “Christmas Spirit.”
