Rose Marie Manning

GALVA – Rose Marie Manning, 87, a resident at Bettendorf Health Care Center in Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Galva, died Monday, August 28, 2017 at the center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Tricia Chapman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Galva, Galva Park District, or to Hook and Bullet Conservation Club.

She was born January 21, 1930 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Irivin and Effie (Hiatt) Scott. She married Irving L. “Dobber” Manning on November 14, 1948 in Galva and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1992. Survivors include two sons, Michael and Tim Manning, both of Bettendorf, IA, a daughter, Paulette (Floyd) Manning-Bruns of Bettendorf, IA, three grandchildren, Cory, Shawn and Tim (Lindsey) and six great grandchildren, Austin, Jordin, Karsin, Trent, Lauren and Sabrina Rose. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy.

Rose Marie graduated from Cambridge High School in 1948. She worked at Lily-Tulip and Dixline and as a waitress at Waunee Farms and Midland Country Club Restaurants. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galva, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Hook and Bullet Conservation Club. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a Women’s Bowling League and enjoyed playing Bridge with a women’s card club. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband and spending time with her grandsons.
