KEWANEE - Teresa F. Naughtin, 91, of Kewanee, passed away at 7:17 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2015 in the emergency room ay OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 19 at Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. Celebrant will be Msgr. Doug Hennessy. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee where a rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Visitation School or to Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish.

Margaret Catherine Teresa Fidelia Bruen was born August 21, 1924 in Kewanee, the daughter of Edward J. and Fidelia (Greene) Bruen. She married Thomas J. “Tom” Naughtin on September 15, 1951 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2010. Survivors include four children, Maureen (Thomas Teijido) Naughtin of Pekin, Kathleen (Don) Fry of Bettendorf, Patrick Naughtin of Kewanee and Colleen (Dr. Ron Turker) Naughtin of Lake Oswego, OR, her sister, Margaret Spets of Fountain Hills, AZ, five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Daniel) Byrne, Anna Fry, Benjamin and Caitlin Turker and Clara (Teijido) Kelly and a great grandchild, John Patrick Byrne. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Timothy in infancy and a step-granddaughter, Carolyn Teijido.

She attended Visitation Grade School, graduated from Kewanee High School in 1942 and attended Marycrest College and Bradley University. She owned and operated Bruen Insurance Agency and also sold real estate for Century 21 in Kewanee. She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Book Club. She was also a member of the Ladies of Columbus and J.U.G.(Just us Girls).

Teresa’s best days were spent with her family – with her children and grandchildren.  She also loved to travel making several overseas trips with family and friends.  Additionally, she enjoyed researching family history and was very proud of her Irish heritage.  She will be greatly missed by her family, her friends and all of her wonderful caregivers to whom the family is deeply indebted.
