KEWANEE - Thomas R. Ording, 78, of Kewanee, died suddenly at 9:10 a.m., Thursday, November 24, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Dan Craig will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, December 2 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you adopt a family or child in need for Christmas in Tom’s name. He always wanted all children to have nice gifts under the tree.
 
He was born September 16, 1938 in Kewanee, the son of Donald M. and Mildred M. (Johnson) Ording. He is survived by a daughter, Amber Flynn and her husband Kevin, two grandchildren, Keegan and Morgan all of Laguna Niguel, CA. He is also survived by a sister, Donna Carpenter and her children and many additional nieces, nephews and cousins.  He leaves behind many friends and extended family as well as his best friend Judy Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tom lived his 78 years in Kewanee.  He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1957 and served his community for over 20 years as a fireman for the City of Kewanee. He also worked at Eagles Supermarket where he made many friends. Tom was a long-time member of the Flemish American Club and the Fraternal Order of Moose. He was also a member of the First Methodist Church of Kewanee but regularly attended services with Judy at the First Baptist Church of Kewanee. He enjoyed bingo, Elvis Presley and 50’s music.
