Verna J. McKeever

KEWANEE - Verna J. McKeever, 80, of Kewanee, died at 11:03 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her home.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 28 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Bob Sherman will officiate. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Verna McKeever Memorial Fund.

She was born February 24, 1936 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Vera (Lindberg) Fjeld. She married Clifford J. “Cliff” McKeever on May 21, 1955 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2004. Survivors include her grandson, Jason McKeever of Kewanee, two brothers, Darwin Fjeld of Fairfax, VA and Mike Fjeld of Kewanee and two sisters, June Swett of Manchester, PA and Carol Nash of Cadiz, KY. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David Fjeld, her son, Steven McKeever and her daughter, Kimberly McKeever.

Verna had worked as a hairdresser out of her home for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her customers. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan who loved to entertain, do yard work and take care of her home and backyard. Her family was her pride and joy and she had a passion for taking care of them.
