Anna Mae Smith

ROCK ISLAND – Anna Mae Smith, 83, of Rock Island, formerly of Kewanee, died at 10:50 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2019 at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 12 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Lawrence D. Anderson Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

She was born January 2, 1936 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Hiram and Flossie (Vaughn) Manns. She married John C. “J.C.” Smith on May 5, 1956 in Corinth, MS and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2014. Survivors include her three children; James Alvin Smith of Normal, IL and Doris Ann Smith and Norita Jo Smith, both of Rock Island. Anna was the 1st of 11 siblings and those surviving her are Willie James Manns and Johnnie Manns, both of Milwaukee, WI, R.J. (Rose) Manns of Jackson, TN and Wilma J. Williams, Janice Pitts and Gloria Manns, all of Ripley, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Otis Manns and Wilbert (Robert Lee) Manns and two brothers in infancy.

Anna Mae attended Carver High School and was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Kewanee.
