KEWANEE – Arlene Emma (Krause) Furnald, 95, of Kewanee, died at 8:05 a.m., Monday, May 28, 2018 at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Evangelical Church UCC in Kewanee.
She was born November 24, 1922 in Kewanee, the daughter of Samuel and Emma Louisa Augusta (Kramer) Krause. She married Thomas Clifford “Cliff” Furnald on June 22, 1965 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2017. Survivors include her two children, Rhonda Kemerling (Bill Haupt) of Kewanee and Mark (Teresa) Furnald of Florida, a sister, Doris Beaston of Tucson, AZ, a brother, Rolland (Carol) Krause of Bishop Hill, nine grandchildren, Todd (Stephanie) Jennings, Troy Lashbrook, TeriAnn (Jeff) Crumbley, Toby Lashbrook, Tani Lashbrook, Alese (Nathan) Thompson, Eric Furnald, Lucas Haupt and Gina (Tyler) Gorman, fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Rosa and Margaret, three brothers, Walter, Harry and Jim, three children, Sandra Lashbrook, Crellin Longenbach and Laurie Furnald and three children in infancy, Kay, Matthew and Mark.
Arlene graduated from Kewanee High School in 1941. She had crocheted numerous afghans, children’s clothes, doilies, names and even the Lord’s Prayer. She quilted for many years with the women of St. Peter’s Evangelical Church UCC where she was a longtime member. She also quilted at home in her free time between doing yardwork and taking care of grandchildren and her husband when he became ill. Just recently Sudoku puzzles were her favorite pass time. She will be missed by all.
