Carol A. Schwefel

KEWANEE - Carol A. Schwefel, 85, of Kewanee, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 27 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewanee. Rev. Christopher Bushre will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

She was born March 20, 1933 in Ixonia, WI, the daughter of George and Elvira (Baumann) Perry. She married Otto A. Schwefel on June 17, 1956 in Ixonia, WI and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2014. Survivors include her children; Susan (Joe) Cervantez of Kewanee, Steve (Laura-Lee) Schwefel of Lake Geneva, WI, Sara (Todd) Black of Champaign, IL and Scott (Diana) Schwefel of Lombard, IL, a sister, Georgene (Dennis) Schramm of Watertown, WI, a sister-in-law, Fae Schwefel of Oconomowoc, WI, eleven grandchildren; Chris and Eric Cervantez, Sara (Jacob) Nimrick, Dean and Keith Schwefel, Rachel, Jane, Peter and David Black and Emily and Olivia Schwefel and two great grandchildren, Olive and Stella Nimrick. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janice Haberkorn.

Carol graduated from Oconomowoc High School in Oconomowoc, WI. She had worked as a secretary for her husband at Schwefel Investment Service and prior to that had worked at Carson-Pirie-Scott in Kewanee and for the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Women of Faith. She also belonged to the Ladies Reading Club and Bridge Club for over 40 years. Carol was a people-person who enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, doing crossword puzzles, spending time with family and friends and especially attending her grandchildren’s activities.
