KEWANEE – Charles “Don” Draminski, 83, of Kewanee, died at 7:29 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
He was born June 22, 1934 in Kewanee, the son of Charles and Virginia (Brockway) Draminski. He married Audrey E. Constable on March 3, 1956 in Harlow Essex, England. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, a son, Stephen (Samantha) Draminski of Rock Island, three daughters, Julie Ann Vermeire of Cabot, AR and Kathleen (Joe) Osborne and Jacqueline (George) Jackson, both of Kewanee, seven grandchildren; Wayne and Brian (Pamela) Vermeire, Doug (Tiffany) Osborne, Danny Osborne, Amy (Andrew) McConnell, Nick Mercer and Brandi Jo Jackson and seven great grandchildren, Hannah, Talyn, Michael, Caleb, Aurora, Rielynne and Lilianna. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Don graduated from Kewanee High School in 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a flight line mechanic from 1953 until his retirement in 1974. He then worked for Altorfer Caterpillar in East Peoria. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan who enjoyed making polish sausage, bowling, gardening woodcarving, wine making, metal detecting and making bird houses.
