Della M. Bainbridge

GALVA – Della M. Bainbridge, 93, of Galva, died at 2:10 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.

She was born May 31, 1926 in Dahinda, the daughter of Delbert and Bertha Ann (Munce) Howard. She married James L. Bainbridge on September 16, 1944 in Galesburg and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1988. Survivors include her four children; Tom Bainbridge of Bonnie Lake, WA, John (Elizabeth) Bainbridge of Marquette Heights, IL and Patricia “Pat” (Jack) Gregory and Mike Bainbridge, both of Galva, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bainbridge of Galva, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Calvin, Loren, Adeane, Irene and Bernadine and her two sons, Jerry and Frank.

Della graduated from Williamsfield High School. She was a homemaker and had worked as a cook at McKay's and at the former LeClaire Hotel in Galva. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Galva. She enjoyed cooking and dearly loved her church.
