KEWANEE – Dennis Joseph Holtschult Sr., 58, of Kewanee, died at 11:10 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Following the services there will be a time of fellowship and refreshment at the Kewanee American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
He was born February 11, 1961 in Kewanee, the son of David T. and Betty J. (Krause) Holtschult. He married Marilyn Nichols-Holtschult on December 29, 1981. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, two sons, Chris (Jennifer) Woodruff of Neponset and Dennis Holtschult Jr. of Kewanee, his daughter, Dana Holtschult and her boyfriend, Rob Davis of Kewanee, grandchildren; Patrick, Paige, Raivin and Easton Woodruff and Arianna Jones and Ayden Bainbridge and Adalynn Davis and three brothers; David (Gail) Holtschult and Bob Holtschult, both of Kewanee and Keith (Millie) Holtschult of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jane Wisniewski.
Dennis graduated from Kewanee High School in 1979 and obtained an Associate’s degree in agricultural mechanics and equipment and machine technology from Black Hawk East. He had worked for Goodrich Equipment and Bomag America, both in Kewanee and Holland and Sons in Geneseo as a diesel mechanic for combines and tractors. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan who enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, camping, collecting John Deere tractors and riding Harley-Davidsons. He especially enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
