WILLIAMSFIELD – Dorothy Marie Martzluf, 97, a resident of Courtyard Estates in Knoxville, formerly of Williamsfield, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the estates.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 14 at the Williamsfield United Methodist Church, 430 N. Chicago St., Williamsfield, IL 61489. Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 13 at the church and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Williamsfield United Methodist Church or to the Williamsfield Public Library. Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield is in charge of arrangements.
She was born November 9, 1919 in Fort Madison, IA, the daughter of Walter P. and Betty (Watts) Nelson. She married Raymond W. Martzluf on September 1, 1938 in Peoria. Survivors include her husband of Knoxville, three children, Shirley M. (Dwight) Burrill of Bonita Springs, FL, Joyce E. (Jim) Graves of Dahinda, IL and Douglas R. (Laura) Martzluf of Chambersburg, PA, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty and Ruth.
Dorothy had worked at Banta Realty and Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She was a member of Williamsfield United Methodist Church where she had been President of the United Methodist Women, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher. She had also been a member of the Illinois Federated Women’s Club, Past President and member of the Williamsfield Home Culture Club, chair of the Cancer Drive for Truro Township and a Girl Scout Leader. Dorothy loved to bake and entertain friends and family. She had an amazing ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. She has been a treasured gift from God to her family, church, friends and community who will cherish and remember her forever.
