BISHOP HILL – Edgar G. “Ed” Middleton, 85, of Bishop Hill, passed away at 8:35 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Pastor Jeff Goard will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the services and private inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville, IL at a later date.
He was born January 17, 1933 in Harvey, IL, the son of Ray and Dola (Worley) Middleton. He married Judy Ganzer on October 27, 1956 in Yorkville. Survivors include his wife of Bishop Hill, a son, Scott (Denise) Middleton of Waukegan, IL, a daughter, Meg (Jeff) Chambers of Gary, IN, three granddaughters, Stephanie (Tristan) Jordan of New Berlin, WI, Jaimie Middleton of Gurnee, IL and Melissa (Edgar) Ardon of Waukegan, IL, two grandsons, Brandon Chambers of Lowell, IN and Matthew Chambers of Indianapolis, IN, a great granddaughter, Isabella Ardon, his six siblings, Marvin Middleton of Florida, Joe Middleton of Aurora, DeLois Mahoney and Judy Mayse, both of Florida, Mary Abbott of Texas and Tom Middleton of Virginia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Norman and Jack Middleton and his daughter, Amy Middleton.
Ed served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Allsteel Equipment in Montgomery, IL until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed photography and had been a tour guide for the Village of Bishop Hill.
