Edith A. “Edie” Livek, 79, of Tavares, FL and formerly of Neponset, IL, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Altus, OK at her daughter’s home.

Edie was born in Minonk, IL on November 8, 1938 to her parents, William Tonjas Mueller and Etta Mae (Weedle) Mueller. She was raised in Manlius, IL and rural Sheffield, IL and graduated high school from Manlius. Edie went on to Black Hawk East College where she completed Nursing School. On November 28, 1987 she married Paul L. Livek in Neponset, IL and they enjoyed twenty-five years together before Paul’s death in 2012. She lived in several places including Minonk, Sheffield, and Neponset, IL and she also resided in Tavares, FL. Edie was a longtime Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for the Kewanee Public Hospital from 1977 until she retired in 1995. Edie volunteered as a cub scout leader and cub master and a cub scout den mother for several years. She was a member of the Adventure Christian Church in Tavares where she enjoyed baking cookies for the school children and she volunteered in many areas of the church. She was the social activities director, the community organizer, as well as a member and founder of the Wacky Widows Club. Edie enjoyed playing her organ and taking organ lessons and learning new music. She always enjoyed traveling and visiting her friends and family all over the United States. She was proud of her country and would cut the stars out of worn out US Flags and give them to the veterans then Edie would say a special prayer over the veterans who served. Edie always had a smile on her face and good joke to tell and she never met a stranger.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her two sons, Thomas Charles Kroot; and James Richard Kroot; three brothers, Roy Allen Mueller; John William Mueller; and Richard Junior Mueller; two sisters, Mary Alice Mueller; and Florence Marie (Mueller) King; Edie is survived by four sons, Billy Joe Sissel; Wayne Allen Sissel; Michael Sherman Sissel; and Andy Livek; three sisters, Debbie Sue (Sissel) Werner; K.J. (Livek) Rebarcak; and Cindy Marie (Sissel) McAdams; one brother, Donald Lee Mueller; nine grandchildren, Brandon J. Werner; Jeremey Sissey; Shannon J. Sissel; Molly Sissel; Missy Sissel; James T. Sissel; Alexie-Justina M. McAdams; Thomas-James S. McAdams; and Carlie-JoAnn M. McAdams; four great grandchildren, Avalynn Hendrix Sissel; Liam Alan Sissel; Layla Mae Vison; and Kole Benjamin Sissy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, IL. Rev. Dr. William R. Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in Neponset, IL.
