KEWANEE – Edna M. Schuetts, 108, of Kewanee, died at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Courtyard Estates in Kewanee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the State Road Community Church.
She was born December 29, 1910 in Burns Township in Henry County, IL, the daughter of Jack and Pearl (Copenhaver) Martin. She married Lawrence K. Schuetts on January 1, 1930 in Kewanee and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1981. Survivors include her daughter, Elaine (Donald) Johnson of Rockford, IL, a daughter-in-law, Betty Schuetts of Cape Girardeau, MO, three grandchildren; Dennis Johnson (Melissa Baxter) and Dan (Jodee) Johnson, both of Rockford, IL and Dana (Chris) Gier of Jackson, MO and five great grandchildren; Maloree and Matthew Johnson and Allison, Logan and Carson Gier. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glenn Martin and Raymond Martin, three sisters, Virginia Martin, Ethel Martin and Frances Dynes and her son, Hayden.
Edna attended Kewanee schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of State Road Community Church, Henry County Farm Bureau, Henry County Home Bureau, the Burns Social Circle, Armstrong Club and the Elwanee Club.
