Emma Jean Olander Bush

GALVA – Emma Jean Olander Bush, 94, of Galva, died at 10:45 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Bob Curry will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva American Legion or to the Galva Food Pantry.

She was born July 6, 1924 in Toulon, the daughter of Glenn and Chloe (Hixon) Yelm. She married Daryl Olander on November 6, 1943 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 1969. She later married Donald V. Bush on August 6, 1970 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2006. Survivors include her son, Glenn "Pete" Olander of Galva, her four daughters; Karan (Warren) Ahlberg of Knoxville, Donna Marie Wallentine of Galva, Shirley (Richard) Sizemore of Cassville, MO and Cheryl (Wayne) Glisan of Galva, two step-sons, Donald “Buzzy” (Paula) Bush and Joe (Jacque) Bush both of Oelwein, IA, sixteen grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Marion, Glenn and Ernest, a sister, Evelyn Mae, a daughter, Sharon Ingels, a son, Donald “Deke” Olander, two grandsons, Derrick Glisan and Donald "Jimmy" Shaw, a granddaughter, Cheryl Rae Shaw and a step-daughter, Andi Bush-Grinstead.

Emma attended Toulon schools and had worked at the Galva Foundry and Kewanee Manufacturing. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Galva and enjoyed fishing, crocheting and knitting.
