KEWANEE- Frank J. Clayes, 87, of Kewanee, died peacefully at 12:40 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Don Reul will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the family.
He was born February 18, 1931 in Kewanee the son of Frank and Hazel (Fultz) Clayes. He married Roxie Popejoy and she died in 1996. Frank later married Barbara Smith and she died in 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Clayes, and a son, Frank III. Survivors include a brother Lawrence (Betty) Clayes of Kewanee, grandsons Kenny and Jon Clayes of Kewanee, two step-daughters, Fran Petty and Ethel (Les) Murphy of Kewanee, a daughter-in-law Marie of Kewanee, four nephews David, John, Larry, and Terry, a niece, Theresa, and several step-grandchildren.
Frank had attended Kewanee High School. He had worked as a cement mason for over fifty years. Frank enjoyed hunting, trap shooting at Baker Park, and fishing at local canals and strip-mines. Frank was a true outdoorsman and cherished his time with his friends and family.
