KEWANEE – Gabina Ann Garcia, 27, of Kewanee, was pronounced dead at 4:32 a.m., Sunday, April 9, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred north of Kewanee on Rt. 78.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. James Brown will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 17 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to an educational fund for her son in c/o Community State Bank in Kewanee.
She was born September 16, 1989 in Kewanee, the daughter of Samuel H. “Sam” Garcia who was originally from El Remolino Cong. Coahuila, MX and Glenda (Bishop) Gardner. Survivors include her parents, both of Kewanee, her five-year-old son, Alonzo Cruz McDonald of Kewanee three sisters, Carolina (Jesus) Martinez of Kewanee, Yolanda (Lorenzo) Quintero of Kewanee and her twin, Reina Ann Garcia of Kewanee, a brother, Urbano (Ana) Garcia of Muscatine, IA, several half-brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Gabina graduated from Kewanee High School and Black Hawk East. She had worked at Courtyard Estates in Kewanee as a caregiver and in the kitchen and with transporting residents. She had been a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene until its closing and was currently attending the First Christian Church in Kewanee. She was an avid bowler and an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Gabina enjoyed writing poetry, singing, Mexican and country dancing, attending church and especially hanging out with friends.
