Gary Dean Petty

KEWANEE – Gary Dean Petty, 64, of Kewanee, passed away at 5:15 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Don Reul will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in rural Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the Gary Petty Memorial Fund.

He was born December 25, 1953 in Kewanee at the Kewanee Public Hospital, the son of George and Mildred (McBride) Petty. He married Frances Allen Jackson on September 28, 1974. Survivors include his wife of Kewanee, three sons, Mark (Krista) Kaiser of Kewanee, Jeremy (Rena) Petty of Toulon and Chad (Jenni) Petty of Kewanee, a daughter, Terra Thompson and her boyfriend, Lewis of Kewanee, a brother, Jack Petty of Kewanee, his sister, Edna Schwigen of Kewanee, nine grandchildren, Joey Kaiser, Payton Petty, Madyson Petty, George Petty, Justice McGwinn, Joshua Thompson, Victoria Thompson, December Tracy and Alexia Tracy, and his best friend, Mike Fredrick of Kewanee. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Lester, Clarence and Jim, two siblings in infancy, Alice and Eugene and a granddaughter, Summer.

Gary graduated from Kewanee High School in 1972. He had worked at Pines and at Kewanee Boiler for 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed WWE Wrestling, art, doing yardwork and refurbishing furniture. Gary was also an avid collector of Beatle’s memorabilia.
