KEWANEE – Gerald L. “Jerry” Swan, 82, of Kewanee, died at 9:30 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2018 at Toulon Health Care Center.
Per his wishes cremation will be accorded and there will be no services. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 5, 1935 in Toulon, the son of Guy and Blanche (Robinson) Swan. He married Donna Puskar on November 8, 1953 in Kewanee and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2006. Survivors include his daughter, Chris (Ron) Morrissey of Kewanee, a daughter -in-law, Paula Swan of Toledo, OH, four grandchildren, Melissa (Wes) Short and Jim Morrissey, both of Kewanee, Nicole Morrissey (Mike Haxby) of Colona and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Swan of Plano, TX, six great grandchildren, Sara, Jenna, Kaleb, Devin, Blake and Janell and two brothers, Dean and Mike Swan. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Tom and Jack, a son, Jeffrey Swan and a great grandson, Cade Morrissey.
Jerry attended Wethersfield schools. He worked at many area service stations and auto repair shops as a mechanic. He retired from Turpin’s in Geneseo in 1997. Following retirement, he had worked at Mirocha’s Auto Service in Kewanee. In his early years he coached Little League baseball and also worked the chain gang for Kewanee High School football games. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, going to the casino with his wife and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
